Sunflower Tattoo Meaning
The sunflower looks like the sun and grows toward it. As a tattoo it stands for warmth, loyalty and choosing the light.
Turning toward the sun
Young sunflowers follow the sun across the sky during the day. That made the flower a symbol of faith, devotion and staying turned toward what gives you life.
Loyalty and adoration
In the Victorian language of flowers the sunflower stood for adoration and loyalty. A sunflower tattoo is often dedicated to a person — a parent, a partner, a child — who is "my sunshine".
Optimism and happiness
With its bright, open face the sunflower is one of the most cheerful flowers there is. It stands for positivity, joy and hope after dark times.
Van Gogh's sunflowers
Vincent van Gogh painted his famous series of sunflowers in 1888 and 1889 in Arles, in the south of France. A sunflower in his style is a tribute to the painter and to art itself.
