Large-Scale Black and Grey Tattoos in Los Angeles
A large black and grey project is a single composition planned from the start, not a series of tattoos placed next to each other - and that decision is made before the first needle.
The difference shows up years later. A sleeve assembled piece by piece ends up with competing focal points and no rhythm, and there is no way to fix it except to cover it. A sleeve planned as one image has a defined flow around the limb, one or two focal areas, and deliberate quiet zones - skin left open so the eye has somewhere to rest.
Planning covers three things: where the composition breaks at the joints, where the untouched skin will be reserved, and in what order the sections are tattooed so that healing never interferes with the next session. Elbow and knee areas are scheduled deliberately rather than reached by accident.
Sessions run long - typically a full day with breaks - because greywash transitions are built in continuous passes and stopping mid-gradient shows. Between sessions the area has to heal fully before the next pass, so the calendar rather than the tattooing is usually what sets the length of the project.

Planning Your Visit
Age
We tattoo and pierce adults only - 18 and over, no exceptions. California law makes tattooing anyone under 18 a misdemeanour (Penal Code 653) and the Safe Body Art Act sets the same limit (Health and Safety Code 119302). The state does allow piercing a minor with a parent or guardian present, and bans nipple and genital piercing on minors outright, but our own rule is simply 18 and over.
Consultation
Free. Text us, call the studio, or come in - the front desk answers the practical questions and the artist takes the design ones.
Booking and deposit
A deposit secures your date and comes off the final price. Some artists take walk-ins for small work; large projects are booked with a specific artist and often months ahead. Guest artists from other states and countries work here through the year.
Sessions
A working day usually runs from noon to around 6pm, sometimes 7pm, with breaks; artists set their own pace and their own day.
Touch-ups
A touch-up after healing is free when the artist judges the piece needs one - they will tell you at the end of the session or when you send healed photos.
Languages
Russian, English and Serbian are spoken in the studio.
Finding us
7224 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles. Street parking on Melrose, plus a paid all-day lot across the road; the studio has no lot of its own. The entrance is on Melrose with no step, and the restroom is wheelchair accessible. Open 12pm to 8pm, seven days.

Standards
The studio works under the California Safe Body Art Act and Los Angeles County Public Health rules for body art.
Large-Scale Project Questions
How many sessions does a full sleeve take?
It depends on density and size, and it is agreed at consultation rather than quoted in advance. What is fixed is the method: one planned composition, tattooed in sections with full healing between them.
Can I start with one piece and expand later?
Yes, but tell the artist at the first session. A first tattoo placed with an eventual sleeve in mind is drawn differently from a standalone one.
Do you tattoo over existing work in a large project?
Often. Whether an old piece can be absorbed or needs laser lightening first is decided at consultation; the studio does not have a laser on site and will refer you out if lightening is needed.
